Alghero with the family
Alghero with children: beaches and where to stay
A morning at the Lido, lunch at home and a walk by the harbour as the day cools down: a family holiday in Alghero can be wonderfully simple. These are the places we suggest to our guests, with a few practical details to make choosing your apartment easier.

Lido beach for an easy day by the sea
Lido di San Giovanni is our first suggestion for a convenient beach day, especially when staying in our Via Paoli apartments. There are sandy stretches with public access and beach establishments, and being nearby makes it easier to return for lunch, a rest or something you forgot.
With a car, you can explore other beaches too. Maria Pia, further north, has sand and dunes; choose the access point with your pushchair and beach bags in mind.
The seabed slopes gently in places, but always check the day's sea conditions. How busy the beach is depends on the season, time and stretch you choose.
Where to stay in Alghero with children
If most mornings will be at the beach, being near the Lido is convenient. For evening walks towards the old town, our Via Kennedy apartments are another option. Las Tronas and Riservato are small nearby beaches, with a different setting from the long sandy Lido.
Check the sleeping arrangements and bathrooms, not just the maximum guest number. Tell us if you are bringing a pushchair or need information about access.
Our apartments for up to four or six guests
We have welcomed guests since 2016. The best choice depends on who is travelling and how you would like to use the bedrooms.
- Vista Mare, Via Fratelli Kennedy 57: up to four guests, one double bedroom, a smaller bedroom with two single beds and one bathroom. Sea views from the living area.
- Superior Kennedy, at the same address: up to four guests, two double bedrooms and one bathroom.
- Like at Home Superior, Via Pasquale Paoli 49, and Second Floor, number 47: up to six guests each, two double bedrooms, one twin bedroom and two bathrooms. Second Floor has a larger living room.
The little conveniences of an apartment
An apartment gives you room to make breakfast when everyone wakes up, prepare a simple lunch and do the washing. All our homes have an equipped kitchen with an oven, washing machine, dishwasher, Wi-Fi and air conditioning in the bedrooms.
A cot and high chair are available on request. Tell us your child's age and what you need when you enquire, so we can arrange the stay together.
Evenings by the harbour and city walls
We often suggest the old-town streets, the harbour and sunset along the city walls. They can be different evening walks; there is no need to fit everything into one outing.
After the beach, take a break at home and choose a walk that suits everyone's energy. A relaxed stop and a short stroll can be enough.
Ideas for a rainy day
MACOR, the Coral Museum, and MUSA, the archaeological museum, offer alternatives to the beach. Choose a visit around your children's ages and interests, rather than trying to see everything.
Check the official opening hours and current activities before going. Play Alghero and Alghero Ticket can also help you explore the options; activities and suitable ages vary.
Do you need a car for a family holiday?
A car gives you more freedom for day trips and different beaches. For an evening in the centre, though, we suggest walking when your apartment is close enough: parking can be difficult in summer.
Without a car, plan the airport journey with your luggage in mind. If you book a transfer, ask the provider about a suitable child seat before travelling.
Tell us about your family holiday
Send us your dates, the number of guests and your children's ages. Let us know whether you prefer beach days, separate beds, a cot or high chair, and whether you will have a car. We can then help you compare the homes that suit your plans.
