Where to stay in Alghero: near the old town or Lido beach?
Would you rather walk to the beach with a towel over your shoulder, or head towards the old town for an evening by the sea? That is where we start when guests ask us where to stay in Alghero. Our apartments are in two different neighbourhoods. Here is what each offers, so you can choose around the holiday you have in mind.
Near the sea and near a sandy beach are different things
A sea-view apartment and an apartment beside a long sandy beach can suit very different holidays. Before booking, look at the coastline nearby and the route you would take to the water.
It also helps to distinguish between staying inside the old town and staying close to it. Your Home Apartments is outside the old town, at Via Fratelli Kennedy 57. Like at Home Apartments is at Via Pasquale Paoli 47–49, near Lido beach. Use those addresses to compare the journeys that matter to you.
The Lido: an easy beach day close to home
Lido di San Giovanni is the town beach north of the old centre, with public beach areas and beach establishments. It is the convenient option we recommend to guests staying at Like at Home: the beach is about 200 metres away.
Being able to go back for lunch or a rest makes a difference, especially with children. Think about the walk with towels, bags and everything else you take to the beach. A short journey you make every day can matter more than a long list of places you might visit.
Via Kennedy: evenings near the old town and seafront
If you enjoy heading out in the evening and choosing somewhere for dinner along the way, being close to the centre makes it easy to walk. We often suggest the old town streets, the harbour and the sea walls at sunset to our guests.
Vista Mare and Superior Kennedy are at Via Fratelli Kennedy 57, near the southern seafront. Piazza Sulis, at the entrance to the old town, is about 400 metres away on foot. From there, you can follow the walls or turn into the narrow streets.
The small beaches around Las Tronas, near Riservato, offer a different setting from the long sandy Lido. If a view from your apartment is important, check the photographs of the individual home: Vista Mare and Superior Kennedy are separate apartments with different features.
Walking distances worth comparing
From Via Kennedy 57 to Piazza Sulis, allow for a walk of about 400 metres. From Via Paoli 49 to Torre di Porta Terra, another entrance to the old town, the route along Via Garibaldi is roughly 1.4 km: around 20 minutes on foot without stops.
These are different arrival points. The old town is a neighbourhood, not a single pin on a map. For Like at Home, the much shorter everyday walk is to Lido beach, about 200 metres away. Check the route to the particular square or stretch of beach you plan to visit.
Which area suits your plans?
If you expect to walk back from the beach several times a day, give that journey more weight. If you picture dinners in the centre and evening walks by the sea, compare the Via Kennedy apartments. The better choice depends on how you want to spend your days.

Four apartments, two starting points
Your Home Apartments includes Vista Mare and Superior Kennedy. Each is about 80 m², with two bedrooms, one bathroom and room for up to four guests. Both are on the second floor. Vista Mare has one double bedroom and a smaller bedroom with two single beds; Superior Kennedy has two double bedrooms.
Like at Home Superior and Second Floor each offer about 120 m² for up to six guests, with two double bedrooms, a twin bedroom and two bathrooms. Superior is on the first floor; Second Floor is on the second floor and has a larger living room.
Like at Home includes one free parking space per apartment. At Your Home, there is only one parking space for the two apartments: it is paid and requires a reservation and confirmation. If you are bringing a car, tell us when asking about availability.
Leave the car parked for the evening
If the walk from your apartment suits you, our advice for an evening in the centre is to leave the car parked. In summer, finding a space can make an otherwise simple outing more complicated.
